In South America, Uruguay and Argentina are more successful in terms of the number of final victories in the Copa América, but at the World Cup the country is lord and master with five titles. Palmeiras even won two titles in 1967. Since the introduction of the national league in 1971, São Paulo and Flamengo have been the most successful clubs, followed by Corinthians, Palmeiras and Vasco da Gama.
